I'm back from vacation! I haven't done any sewing, then again, I've only been back for like, 10 days. Seems like forever. Probably because I started working the day after I got back. Have to make up all that money I spent in Scotland! I've started going through my pictures, so those will be up eventually. You know, when I finish my vacation from over a year ago. Whatever. Anyway, I need to get back to sewing! I've just been slacking off. I'm also making some of my own camping gear for my camping trip to Seattle in August. I'm going a bit overboard. I'm going to have to do a lot of camping in the future :P
I finished this dress when there were still snow storms blowing through. It was my way to chase off winter. I was considering going outside on the first day of spring while it was snowing and take pictures of this dress outside, but I always feel silly taking pictures, which is why they are always taken in my room. That and it was cold...and snowing. Oh well, in my head they were awesome pictures.
Made out of a quilting cotton, I absolutely love the design of the birds. And so colourful! Anyway, it's a fun dress. Unlined and not too tight, which is all I ask for in a dress for summer, really. The belt helps cinch in the waist a bit, but then I can come home and just take the belt off and be super comfortable in it. And the contrast zipper was done on purpose :P
The pattern is Simplicity 1803. Easy pattern, no major fitting issues, POCKETS. I'd definitely make the pattern again or use it to frankenstein. Pretty versatile, basic sun dress. The pattern hides most of the design, it's a princess seam top with a notch and a gathered skirt. Just in case you were wondering :P
