Babe, you sure did treat me nice
Well, I make a 'Christmas' dress almost every year....more like just a red dress this year though, since I never actually wore it. I mostly made it just because I like red.
I chose this pattern because it was lined and jersey. This red fabric is GORGEOUS (I'm going to take a picture of it close up) and I always assumed it was 'stretchy', though I learned....not that much. But it is a burned out/lace type fabric, so it needed to be lined. Not many jersey patterns come with lining and I'm sometimes just too lazy to change a pattern to have a lining.
Even not totally jersey-stretch, it worked out. A bit tight. I think it would be much more comfortable in a stretchier fabric, but it isn't bad. I made a couple of changes, I didn't topstitch around the neckline, and I adjusted the sleeves to not be so puffy. The dress looks 80's enough without the puffy shoulders.
Not much else to say about it, it is a pretty simple dress.
Flattering style dress though, with the ruching and the sweetheart neckline (I think it would have shown up better if I had topstitched). I would definitely make this pattern again, nice to show off some pretty jersey if you have some (without having to buy too much of it)! The dress has a crossover front option that is really cute too.
Now....if only I could find somewhere to wear it....Story of my life.
