If you actually take the amount of time I worked on this project, it didn't really take too long. If you look at the duration between when I started it and when I finished....it was a bit longer. Even
when I 'sort of' made up my own patterns back in the states I usually had some sort of pattern to start with and adjust and frankenstein, just to get curves and porportions right. Or at least paper to draw my own patterns. Or a dress form to drape it on. Here? Easy, one step: cut the fabric O_o It's really sewing blind.
I started out with this dress trying to make it without a zipper. There is something about zippers in summer that I don't like. I'll get over it, zippers are so easy. But yea. That was the first redo. Then I had to find a way to get rid of all that rouched fabric that was previously taken up with elastic. Then things were too big, then too small, then too long, then too tight. Then I changed the sleeves. But added up, it was fairly simple, I just make things difficult.
So here is the finished product. Zipper in the side, the bust is connected to the top back and in the side seams (it's complicated to explain) and tied in the front (it isn't actually attached to the front of the dress). I have a little loop that I might use to make it a little less revealing, lol. I love it. I don't know if I'll ever wear it, but I like it all the same!
I've got a few other pieces of fabric I want to turn into dresses before I have to move out. I feel less ridiculous carrying around dresses as opposed to unused fabric. Can't afford to have a stash when I might be homeless, lol.
