The Last Station
I wanted to see this when it came out, but I wasn't able to get to it (yay for netflix!). It's been a long time since I've reviewed a movie, but I had to put this one up. About the end of Tolstoy's life. With Christopher Plummer as Tolstoy, Helen Mirren as his wife, Paul Giamatti as the leader of Tolstoy's movement, and James MacAvoy as Valentin, Tolstoy's secretary.
It was a seriously FANTASTIC movie. For one thing, I can't remember the last time I ever laughed that much during a movie, so if 'the end of Tolstoy's life' makes you think it will be a horribly depressing movie, think again. Obviously, parts are, but SO many parts were hilarious. Lots of emotion, good story, good characters, fabulous acting. I honestly can't think of anyone I wouldn't recommend this movie to! Really great on every level. This is so much more than me fan-girling about MacAvoy, I promise!
