Another one of those dresses that I finished a few months ago. With dreams of summer.
If I had gone to the Patternreview website, I would have know that there were problems with the pattern. The bodice lining is a bit short compared to the outside bodice (with all the pleats) which causes the bodice to bunch a little. Maybe this is part of the design? An added pleat/bunchiness? I don't know, it is a bit off. And it is a bit short to the waist to begin with, so adding something might have helped.
Once again, the fabric I picked was a bitch to work with, but when I saw a pattern with a flat hem (for the border design on the fabric), I thought I should probably use it. It's been sitting around forever in my stash. The fabric is also ombre, black to brown back to black at the borders, so I did some creative cutting to make the bodice pieces fade like the fabric.
I'm not sure if the pleats show up in any of the pictures, which is pretty much what the whole dress is about, but oh well. There is also a bow and elastic on the top of the back. It is cute :) I won't even go into how hard it is to tie a bow on the upper back of yourself though...
And, while it looks better with heels, I'm fairly lazy and would probably just wear sandals more often than not :)
Edit: Pattern is Simplicity 2250, Cynthia Rowley pattern, I like them, they are clever designs (ignoring the bodice flaw in this one)
