New little series, pictures of my garden :) I went crazy this spring with the gardening. Possibly because I told myself that I could choose between working out or gardening every morning, and gardening won out the majority of the time. Or, I just wanted to create a little oasis for myself. I don't like gardening, persay, but I like having a garden. If you saw how many spiders are in our yard, you would know that I don't do it solely for the enjoyment of it!! And it is a continuous work in progress. But it is definitely filling up with plants! I'll try and find some 'before' pictures of it, it had quite a transformation this year.
For some reason, all the pictures I try and take of my garden turn out truly horrible-too dark, too light, too blurry, etc. I don't know what is wrong with me. But I'll get some good ones eventually, I promise!
For this first post, I will post pictures of the hummingbird that actually frequents our feeder! Makes me want to get a prettier feeder now that I know it is being used!! I set up my tripod, got my remote, and read a book, waiting for the little guy to come around. That camera infuriates me sometimes! Got a couple of pictures though! It was late in the day and the area is in shade, so I couldn't get very quick pictures (meaning it was too dark to set the shutter speed so I could freeze capture his wings). But I've since scouted out a time of day when the feeder gets some sunlight, so I can set a quicker shutter speed. Try, try again :)
I have a whole slew of projects that I haven't posted. Pretty frequently, I just get tired of putting up/taking pictures :P I actually have some pictures taken, but I don't like the lighting. I'm so vain. Anyway, here is one that has been sitting around my computer for a while.
Very comfortable jersey knit that I bought in the fabric district of Dallas-how I love that place! And you guys should know by now my penchant for stripes... Blouson top, half circle skirt, short raglan sleeves, big cowl neck (to wear different ways! Cowl, 1 shoulder, no shoulder, etc), and tie in the middle. Super comfortable to wear (after I switched the shoes to flats, that is). I've been doing a lot of patterns lately, but this one was without, which was fun since I'm sort of out of practice. Turned out though, which is always a plus. Hmmm, so.....that is all to say about it! Wore it to a chamber music concert in Plymouth :)
Happy 4th of July everyone! I was terribly anti-social this year, I just stayed home and then wandered on down to the beach to watch the fireworks go off. But it was a nice and relaxing holiday. BBQed some veggies, read a book, (drank some wine, bien sûr!). Could've been worse! The fireworks were an hour late in starting, we saw distant ones all around the bay, but the close ones didn't go off till we were walking home, but we were still by the water and were able to see them through the houses. Pretty great view, actually.
You know, a few weeks ago, September 19th (when I leave for Paris for almost 2 months) seemed inexplicably far away. Now that it is JULY, it seems right around the corner! My normal thought process in situations like this: It is July=almost August=only 1 more month before I leave=Sept 19th. Ridiculous, but it seems so close!
But anyway, I'm so excited and yet, it is sort of stressing me out that it is SO SOON (and also....not soon enough). I can't put a finger on why, other than making more money so that I can actually afford the already planned trip, I don't really have anything else to do! I have the tickets and the lodging. Everything else will fall into place, right? ;)
